On April 24, 2026, Alto successfully completed the first round of early engagement marking the end of one of the most extensive public consultation initiatives ever conducted in Canada. The input gathered from the public, stakeholders and municipalities will inform the next phase of the project and a report of what was heard during this consultation will be published this summer. In the meantime, a brief summary of the engagement activities and participation can be found here.
During the early project engagement, many concerns were heard from rural communities across the corridor. In response to these concerns, Alto has published their commitment to rural communities that includes how they will:
- prioritize negotiated agreements
- offer fair, long-term compensation
- preserve road access and movement, and
- support agricultural productivity and development.
