The Township's Emergency Plan provides an all-hazards approach to emergency management. The effective use and maintenance of this plan is reliant upon all concerned being aware of its provisions and prepared to fulfill their roles and responsibilities in the event of an emergency. Responsible individuals, are expected to participate in emergency training , and exercises that will assist them in the fulfillment of their roles accordingly. The heads of departments and agencies are expected to develop their own internal notification lists, procedures and contingency plans to fulfill their departmental or agency responsibilities. Together we work to ensure that our community is prepared to respond to an emergency in the most effective manner possible.

Aim

The Aim of this plan is to protect the health, safety, welfare and property of our citizens, from the effects of a natural or human caused emergency.

Disabilities/Special Needs
There are an estimated 1.5 million Ontarians with disabilities and special needs. For those living with a physical, visual, auditory and/or other non-visible disability, emergency preparedness should also involve incorporating special accommodations into their emergency plans.
Emergency Management Ontario and the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario have developed an Emergency Preparedness Guide for People with Disabilities/Special Needs. To best prepare for an emergency according to one’s special needs, please refer to the appropriate category in this guide for a list of suggested emergency survival kit items and contingency planning considerations.
